Brief

You are to create a game of your own design and imagining using Unity using assets that you create yourself.

Hints for Success:
Testing your work to improve the quality of it is a big part of web design. Getting and applying feedback will be the difference between Achieved and Merit.

Excellence requires you to undertake iterative development and to use efficient tools and techniques.

Specifications

For Achieved you will need to:
  • apply appropriate complex tools and techniques to meet the purpose and end-user requirements
  • apply appropriate data integrity and testing procedures
  • apply user experience principles relevant to the purpose of the outcome
  • address relevant implications
  • create a final page for references to material that is not yours
  • ensure that any content that is not yours is obtained under fair use (creative commons)

For Merit you will need to:
  • meet the requirements for an Achieved grade
  • use information from testing procedures to improve the quality of the digital media outcome
  • apply user experience principles (UX) to improve the quality of the digital media outcome

For Excellence you will need to:
  • meet the requirements for Achieved and Merit
  • use iterative improvement throughout the design, development and testing process to produce a high-quality outcome
  • use efficient tools and techniques in the outcome’s production

You will need to use complex tools and techniques. Per the NZQA examples of these are:
  • non-core functionality
  • sophisticated digital effects
  • applying industry standards or guidelines
  • responsive design for use on multiple devices
  • integration of original media assets
  • dynamic data handling and interactivity
  • automation through scripts.

Examples of efficient tools and techniques in your project are:
  • The student has used version control tools (git) to manage iterations.
  • They have applied robust asset management techniques and backup procedures.
  • They have used gantt charts, storyboards, run-sheets or flow-diagrams, etc to efficiently manage production of the outcome.

Relevant Implications:
Social, Cultural, Legal, Ethical, Intellectual Property, Privacy, Accessibility, Usability, Functionality, Aesthetics, Sustainability and future proofing, End-User Considerations, Health Safety.
Select at least four of these.
